My primary doctor referred me to a neurologist he has used for years. Unfortunately that popular doctor also had a three month waiting list. With my anxiety running at an all time high with the results of ,not so great blood work, and symptoms getting worse, I decided to see a neurologist that could get me in sooner.
After looking over my blood work and doing a physical exam. She decided I have an MRI and an EMG (Electromyography) done as soon as possible. First she wanted to rule out the major diseases: brain cancer, MS, Leukemia, etc. She asked I stop taking any multi-vitamins as my B6 levels were at dangerous levels. I informed her I don’t take any vitamins. That puzzled her even more. She also indicated how tight the muscles across my back were and wanted me to try physical therapy. Also, more blood work that she wanted to send off to the Mayo Clinic.
I scheduled EMG and first MRI appointment for the same day and physical therapy that same week. Thankful all in the same building.
I did research on high levels of B6 and if there was food I should stop eating. Surprised to find out majority of food contains B vitamins. Well, I can’t just eat asparagus lol. I was thankful to find out high B12 was way worse to have elevated so I saw something positive.
Tip: Do research and ask your primary doctor questions on the neurologist you will be seeing. You will find out I ended up switching neurologists later.
