I always tried to schedule more than one doctors visit if I could. What really helps is being part of a big network so all doctors can see what tests have been done. That day it was mammogram and gynecologist. I had never had a mammogram done before and I admit I was quite nervous. I will spare the details, but I was greatly surprised that it was a very easy test. Not painful at all. I did inquire to nurse, between kids and this machine, how can anyone remain perky? Lol
Onto gynecologist visit. This was to remove my 10-year IUD. I will also spare great details, but I found out my IUD (that I was told by previous gynecologist) was not a 10-year, but a 5-year. SMH, only this would happen to me lol. On top of that I received a new 5-year IUD and afterwards, gynecologist states that the one I got I would have a period…ummmm huh??? That was the whole reason I got another one! So I went thru all that pain and agony for nothing? Gynecologist shrugs and says so does that mean you want the right one put in? Ughhhhhhh yes. I must love torture because anyone who has gone thru this procedure once knows that going thru it back-to-back was incredibly excruciatingly painful. I could go into great detail, but it is never my intention on making my readers gravely ill, but the gynecologist had some concerns and insisted I make an appointment to make sure I did not have blood clots that could cause major issues. So next stop was getting an ultra sound. Life is always interesting! Good thing my gynecologist contacted ultra sound department (I think it’s called Radiology). I could walk right over and got in immediately. Test was not that long and the pictures were also to make sure IUD was placed in correct area. Little did I know this one test would add another test later.
I also did the blood clot test in my legs at same department. This consisted of taking scans as they are expanding a big cuff, much like a blood pressure cuff, on different areas of my legs and feet. Not overly painful, but I was relieved to get it done. It did make my numbness worse, but I don’t know if that was a contributor or just symptoms getting worse. Eventually, my feet started to feel like I had vibrating cell phones on the bottom of them, vibrating constantly. To this day I still have those cell phones vibrating away. Wish I could answer the call or block the caller! Lol
Back to my primary doctor who looked through all my tests. Vitamin B6 still high, still taking high dose of vitamin D. My number 15 for vitamin D has now crawled to 20, so making progress to get it to the normal 50 level of Vitamin D. Primary doctor told me blood clot test came back negative, whew that’s a relief. Mammogram came back good. Another whew. For my liver scan, the radiologist noted liver functionality was normal, but he noticed something unusual about my right kidney. Ummmm what? How did my kidney photobomb my liver scans? Radiologist stated he wanted further testing on both my kidneys because the scans he sees are not focused on those areas. Back to the tilt-a-whirl machine I go.
TIPS: Again, Primary Doctor played a huge role! I will always say they are the most important doctor to have on your side..only if they are a good one! A Primary Doctor that does not share in your concerns or do what’s necessary to find answers from specialists, is not going to benefit you in the long run.
